SET 2018 presented at dena-Congress 2017

On November 20th, we presented our global start-up initiative to the energy community at the evening event of dena’s annual conference – the dena-Congress. This was a great compliment to our SET 2018 launch last week at COP23 in Bonn, where key international players gathered to celebrate a new round of start-up applications, new partnerships and a growing global platform. The dena-Congress took place on November 20-21st, 2017 in Berlin, with more than 900 members of Germany’s energy sector and more than 80 speakers from leading industries, NGOs, and the political sphere present.

To incite the start-up and entrepreneurial spirit at the dena-Congress, we invited some of last year’s SET award finalists and winners to pitch on the main stage of the evening event. Without a doubt, the impressive business ideas – Blue Inductive GmbH, Hydrogenious Technologies GmbH, Electrochaea GmbH, Sicoya GmbH, and CAALA GmbH – gained the full attention of our audience. The pitch session was followed by our SET2018 trailer and a recap video from the launch event at COP23.

The second part of the evening event consisted of a panel, composed of influential individuals including Sylvain Filippi (Chief Technology Officer DS Virgin Racing), Jochen Flasbarth (Secretary of State, The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), Chad Frischmann (Vice President & Research Director, Project Drawdown), Dr. Thomas Sedran (Senior Vice President Group Strategy and General Secretary Volkswagen AG), and Prof. Dr. Laurence Tubiana (CEO European Climate Foundation). The participants discussed the practical possibilities for protecting and saving the climate, and some took a more-than-usual positive stance towards it. The panel honed in on the important roles which cities, states and regions have when it comes to fighting climate change.

We are excited to continue this great momentum with our award application phase, which is open until January 31st, 2018. If you feel like you have what it takes to join our amazing group of SET finalists and winners, then apply here. Alternatively, if you know of a great start-up who you think should apply, spread the word!
