Easy Housing is a circular and climate-resilient building solution, based on locally sourced, sustainable timber, that offers a unique answer to the growing need for affordable, sustainable housing in African countries. Easy Homes are scalable, flexible, and affordable. The timber stores carbon, thus reducing the amount of CO2 emissions in the world. Easy Housing contributes to the development of sustainable timber industries in African countries, and thereby provides economic incentives for sustainable, regenerative forest management. An estimated 40% of global CO2 emissions are caused by the built environment. Easy Homes replace concrete with timber and store carbon in the wood. Together, this results in a CO2 reduction of up to 250% per home.
African countries are the most vulnerable to climate shocks, especially poor households. Easy Homes are climate resilient: they withstand floods, cyclones and heatwaves.
Hence, Easy Homes contribute to both climate mitigation and adaptation.
