ForCity provides urban decision-makers in various sectors like district heating and water a Software-as-a-Service Twin City to simulate how their city could change over the next decades and to plan sustainable decisions. Users can build scenarios, simulate strategies and compare their impacts on maps and dashboards against many indicators, be it financial, social or environmental. Energy transition happens before their eyes.
ForCity’s software answers the needs of DHC operators and public authorities. It helps them with anticipating heating and cooling demand, optimizing and securing their ROI while boosting their transition towards sustainable energy.
The software shows the evolution, building by building, of heating and cooling demand over the next 25 years in a 3D digital twin. It evaluates how much network is required to connect new buildings and evaluates the linear heat density of these extensions; showing which extensions would be profitable.
In contrast to paper studies the software allows urban planners to compare as many scenarios as needed and monitor them over time.
Whereas complex models generally need many local data and computation resources, ForCity developed a model which can be used with available data, through partnerships with urban planning agencies and academics.
